Melkweg

Melkweg stands for pop culture in the broadest of senses and focuses on concerts, club nights, (music) films, theatre performances, exhibitions and multidisciplinary events. It is housed in a former milk factory in the lively heart of Amsterdam and is divided into a number of spaces of varying sizes.

Alongside the diverse music programming in both concert halls as well as the upstairs hall, with both international names and home-grown talent, their club nights also represent a wide variety of music styles and audiences, bridging the gap between underground culture and the general public. The diversity of its programming and visitors – together with its different spaces and special location – have for years made Melkweg a unique place.

Depth is provided by the cinema programme and its music films and by the exhibition space, which provokes people to think but can also surprise. Both disciplines have their own space. Being able to interconnect all of the facilities’ different spaces makes the Melkweg highly suitable for festivals and larger events that often have a social character.
