CHANGING ROOM - A MOBILITY PILOT FOR CULTURAL OPERATORS

CHANGING ROOM is a two-year pilot project by Trans Europe Halles looking for new ways of stimulating cross-border mobility of cultural operators.
25 TEH members in 15 countries are partners in the project.

 The project includes:
*A Staff Exchange Programme
*Training workshops
*The CHANGING ROOM Toolkit
*An Academic Study

The Staff Exchange Programme

By testing a staff exchange and training programme involving 25 member centers in 15 countries Trans Europe Halles will identify today’s barriers and opportunities for the circulation of cultural operators. In August 2010 there will be a Summer Academy where all participants from the Staff Exchange programme will meet and evaluate their experiences. Read more about the programme and reports from exchanges that have taken place here.

Training workshops

Several regional and international workshops open to participants outside of TEH are being organised within CHANGING ROOM. Please see the list to the right for dates and locations. In April a Cultural Leaders Retreat will take place in Sicily. Participants are mainly Managing Directors at TEH centres, that share experiences and get training in leadership.

CHANGING ROOM TOOLKIT - click here
The Toolkit is an online platform that offers free tools for knowledge sharing and networking between cultural operators. It includes a wiki-style Knowledge Base, the MatchMaker, which is a Facebook application especially developed for networking between TEH individuals and organisations and a direct jobs listing from Culture Jobs International.

During 2010 the beta release of the MatchMaker is being tested by Trans Europe Halles. In the future other cultural organisations and networks can get their own version of the MatchMaker. In the meanwhile, everyone is welcome to use the other parts of the Toolkit.

Please get in touch through this contact form for more information about how your organisation can get their own MatchMaker.

The Toolkit was released on February 17th 2010.

The Study
The Sibelius Academy is carrying out a first-of-its-kind study on mobility for cultural operators. Focus group interviews have been made during TEH Meeting 67 and 68 and in the spring 2010 an online survey will be sent to all TEH Members and Friends. Together with all the other experiences from the project this will give a topical insight on mobility of independent cultural operators today and how best to raise its value. The Study will be published in the winter 2010. To take part of some first observations, please click here.

Furthermore, the CHANGING ROOM experiences are used to influence the next EU Culture Programme (2014-2020). Together with three other mobility pilots CHANGING ROOM has written a policy recommendation paper that was sent to the European Commission in March 2010.

Organisation/Project Management
CHANGING ROOM is one of four projects that were awarded support by the new European Commission funding line for networks supporting mobility. The project is co-organised by The Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, Finland, the largest music university in Scandinavia and Melkweg, an internationally renown multidisciplinary arts venue in Amsterdam, The Netherlands
. 25 TEH members in 15 countries are partners in the project.
For more information you are very welcome to contact the project team through our Contact point.
