Staff Exchange Programme

Since 2011, the TEH Staff Exchange Programme has created mobility opportunities for non-artistic cultural professionals across borders. It has increased and fostered professional development opportunities and knowledge exchange through action-based learning.

The main goal of the programme is to support the staff of TEH member centres to develop their professional skills and knowledge, get to know new perspectives on managing cultural centres, get inspired, develop new international contacts and partnerships, etc.

The average stay of a professional on exchange is 10 days. And the areas of the exchange are quite diverse: cultural centre management, marketing and communications, graphic design, educational programmes, catering services management, technical (sound and light), etc.

The exchanges are opportunities for peer-to-peer learning. They include shadowing, hands-on activities, conversations and interviews, etc. The duration and the topic of each exchange are agreed between both parties according to their specific needs.

Staff Exchange Programme Edition 2019 Volume 3
Under Factories of Imagination, the Staff Exchange Programme Edition 2019 Volume 3  offers travel and accommodation support (up to 250€ + 150€) to eight staff members of Trans Europe Halles cultural centres.

Duration of the Exchange
The duration of the exchange should be of at least 1 week. Yet, the participants and hosting centres can agree on the most convenient duration for both parties. The ideal length of exchange is from 1 to 4 weeks. The exchanges can take place anytime from September 2019 till July 2020.

Eligibility Criteria
Staff members – such as managers, coordinators, technicians, etc. – from any department of a Trans Europe Halles member centre are eligible for this programme. The only limitation is that candidates should have worked in the centre for at least one year.

Note that the Staff Exchange Programme is not intended for artists, it is not an artistic residency.

Travel and Accommodation Support
The TEH Staff Exchange Programme can contribute up to 250€ towards travel costs and up to 150€ towards accommodation costs per person. Other costs related to the exchange should be covered by the hosting and sending organisations.

Costs will be reimbursed after the participants submit their evaluation report to the Programme Coordinator at the end of the programme. Participants are also obliged to attach all necessary documents (invoices, receipts, boarding passes, etc.)

Hosting TEH Centres
Check the database of TEH hosting centres for further information about:
the participating cultural centres,
the topics of the exchange,
what the centres can offer, and
the communication languages in the centres.

Participants are compelled to write a report about their exchange, as well as to submit original documents of invoice, receipts, boarding passes, etc. related to the costs to be reimbursed. The deadline for submitting the reports is 15 August 2020.

Application process and other important deadlines
Call for applications opens: 7 May 2019.
Deadline for applications: 14 June 2019.
Selection of candidates: before mid of July 2019.
Candidates are informed of the results: mid-July 2019.
Exchange period: September 2019 – July 2020.
Reporting period: 15 August 2020.
