Die Baeckerei

Innsbruck, Austria

Die Bäckerei is a vital platform for cultural and social exchange. As a dynamic space it brings together aspects of communication, production and presentation. Die Bäckerei is a space that cannot be precisely defined but is created by its users, the dynamic core of the facility. The space can and should be a place for experiments and an institution that can flexibly adjust itself to various purposes and needs. Die Bäckerei is possibility, stimulus and trigger. Its users are its agents, and the facility creates new sources of creativity while also having a positive effect on the city and its cultural scene. Those involved consider themselves to be parts of a greater whole, and in the course of this process individual projects can be implemented while overall structures are open for experimentation as well.

Presentation
Die Bäckerei offers both individuals and groups the possibility to realize and present various ideas. However the peculiarities of this facility should be considered by organizers and ideally be included in the concept of the project. Events are supervised, discussed and implemented together, facilitating not only exchange between all projects, groups and individuals involved.

Production
People work on projects at Die Bäckerei all year – mentally, in workshops and in between as well. Not only are new formats of events produced, but also new networks, perspectives and approaches. We encourage those using the facility to innovate, creating new patterns of thought, connections and forms of working for a new level of attention for both each other and one’s own interests, competences and possibilities. Die Bäckerei offers room for dialogue, interaction and participation that creates interdisciplinary projects able to transgress genres. This cooperation extends mental perspectives and supports mutual inspiration, critique and correction.

Communication
Via all participants, Die Bäckerei generates a cultural network interacting on regional and supra-regional levels. Connections between these institutions, groups, cities and creative forces are mobilized, leading not only to new projects, but also to a new form of cultural attention. By combining network, event and production spaces, all projects produced, presented and communicated are given a wider scope. This includes both urban and virtual spaces while incorporating action spaces of various interest groups. The identity of Die Bäckerei consists of what is created inside of it, its identity and character formed by the development of urban spaces. Those who participate in a cultural network are those able to adapt, change and use it.
