THEME
What does cultivation mean to us? First of all, it is about listening and learning to consider our actions within our ecosystems and sustain healthy environment so that its individual components can function.
The concept of this Conference will resonate with many cultural professionals and centres as it questions our current approaches to work and aims to make us reconsider our action plans and look deeper into the value of things and spaces we create. Read full concept description here.

Atlas is a subversive chameleon, a multipolar clown with a thousand noses. He is in a constant need for contact with other people, always looking for an opportunity to hold an uncontrolled dialogue. Atlas is a lost myth looking for someone to take their place. Grandson of Gaia (Earth) and Uranus (Sky) and great-grandson of Chaos.
Performance walk with Atlas begins in front of the Studio ALTA entrance.

Always in a good mood, Dj Robot serves a music cocktail full of hip hop, funk, breaks as well as stuff that you have most likely never heard before.

What does creative programming look like as part of a broader ecosystem? Learn to cultivate your existing resources into a flourishing creative programme and challenge yourself to think differently about programming as a practice. We will focus on negotiating the relationship between quality and quantity, nurturing human resources and considering the wider value chain around the core creative programme. We will think about diversity and shed light on our blind spots, and study how residencies become fertile ground for creativity, value and impact.
This is an all-day program with one break and we recommend to stay the whole session to experience it fully.

In the past two years, activities of all cultural organisations have been significantly affected by the never-ending Covid pandemic and the war that has been unfolding right here in Europe. Moreover, we feel the effects of climate change on a daily basis, which is reflected in our work. How are organizations able to continue functioning? How do they manage their resources, whether it is the space they inhabit or the team that prepares daily programme? 12 cultural organisations and projects will be presented in this block, as examples of good, sustainable practices that could inspire in challenging times.

PERMEANCE – an international, participatory dance production – explores our changing experiences with water in our memories and in the present, contemplating the relationship between water and humankind. As an outdoor choreography PERMEANCE seeks to evoke a sense of cohesion and harmony with nature and with oneself. At the same time, the multilingual piece conveys a sense of playfulness and lightness, as if drifting on the surface of water on a summer day, only to be gradually and easily drawn deep into the theme as if by a siren.

What are the best methodologies to train professionals of urban innovation?
What type of content should the curriculum focus on? How should professionals be trained to foster collective ownership of planning projects? In the past 18 months, the EUREKA project tackled these questions, engaging practitioners, students, universities, and public officials across four EU countries. Their answers help us design an interdisciplinary and practice-based EU-wide curriculum that will be tested in 2022 and 2023. In this session we would like to hear feedback on the first draft of the curriculum from you all – professionals, thinkers and activists.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a topic that moves the business world. It is time to focus also on cultural organisations. In this workshop we will centre our attention on the following questions: how do we communicate our social responsibility to the public, politicians, artists? Is it important for cultural organisations to have a strategic document in this area, and how to create one? What experiences from the business sector can we use?

In this session we will together start forming a concept of ‘slow networking.’ We will build on the ideas of slow art and slow food, and adapt it to the context of networking and shape it in our own way. At the end of the session, we will have formulated the basic ideas and concept in writing as well as visualized.

Our organisations and projects are the living organisms that we care about and develop.
We imprint our best visions on them, cultivate our surroundings, and transform the world into a better place. And just like in a balanced ecosystem, where even a great harvest brings energy back into the cycle, we create parallels and metaphors in our cultural organisations and teams. So that energy circulates, transforms, but stays within the system. Let’s make our organisations’ ecosystems healthier and more sustainable. Let’s dive into the flow of energy and flow.
Speakers: Florian Landstädter & Shawn Wright, Die Bäckerei – Kulturbackstube, Innsbruck; Jana Ryšlavá, Move Platform, Ostrava; Iveta Zedková, psychiatrist

This workshop will share learning from diversity initiatives and actions in England to develop a more inclusive arts and cultural sector and to diversify their workforce, leadership and governance as well as their creative programmes. Workshop participants will also explore how they can become more relevant to communities that are not currently engaging with their activity. Delegates attending the session will have an opportunity to practice what changes they can make to their organisations to make them more inclusive of and relevant to the communities they serve.

Moderated meetings between a group of artists and representatives of European venues with a goal to create an environment for sharing of what artists need/expect from cultural venues and, conversely, what cultural venues need/expect from artists. These conversations will help increase understanding between artists and cultural organisations.

Workshop designed by the Warsaw Bauhaus Foundation about an idea of a miniscule / nomadic / symbiotic habitation.
Guideline quotation score
John Cage: The world, the real world is not an object. It is a process.
Earth Suzi Gablik: Nothing exists separately from the rest.
Walter Gropius: A modern, harmonic and lively architecture is the visible sign of an authentic democracy.
Mary Caroline Richards: There is a creative spirit in you desiring to be free, and you may as well get out of its way for it will give you no peace until you do. In a lethal world, poetry is necessary for survival.

Negative impacts of mining activities intertwine with nature as well as human lives. This project aims to point out concrete impacts the activities have had in the area of German Gatzen (near Leipzig) and open a dialogue, both on local and global level – are we ready for it? How many of us really take time to think about where our energy sources come from, as we take it for granted? Are we willing to give up the advantages of our civilisation to the benefit of our planet? Live performance Under the Surface is based on organic nature of human body, nature and the landscape.

Do not worry, there is plenty of food in our place. The nearby Kantýna offers the best selection of meat-based, vegetarian as well as vegan cuisine. It is a place where we, too, enjoy a meal during our work days. We choose the most environmentally friendly option – the prepared meal does not have to be transported anywhere and any need for a disposable dishes, even if environmentally friendly, is thus eliminated.
