Launched in 2018, VISSSUAL cultural hub is the project of reconverting an industrial site – an old shoe factory – into a space of congruence for artists, makers, freelancers and their audiences, a venue for events, debates, creation, experiment, production and learning. VISSSUAL is a hub that hosts all alternative cultural life of Brașov, an aggregator for creative industries. In 2020 the hub had to rethink its space and at the moment, it is composed of a garden/terrace, a co-working space, a room for creative industries courses, a makerspace, an audio and recording studio.
Just like its name [`vis` means `dream` in Romanian], VISSSUAL is the place where every creative can put his dream into action. Their mission is to spread the creative industries as a way of living and help people like us reach their dreams in a way that is economically feasible. They believe that if you have a passion you should follow it and make it a profession, thus living a more fulfilling life. Their vision is a world where everyone can explore their talent and passion, being happy and making others happy.
The team is guided by creativity, flexibility, dedication, network building, curiosity.
What makes their organisation unique?
VISSSUAL is the only place in Brașov where visual arts, performative arts, music, ideas, industrial heritage and technology coexist and interact to experiment in all fields of contemporary creativity, to be shared between their creators and the public. The venue is the home of our festival and the home of other creatives’ ideas, performances or work creating an effusion that fills again the old factory and energizes the social and cultural life of our city.
