TEH full member: become a 2027 TEH Meeting host
The annual meetings are at the core of Trans Europe Halles (TEH) network activities. It all started in 1983, when a small group of independent cultural centres from across Europe came together in Brussels to exchange ideas and support each other in transforming abandoned buildings into vibrant hubs for arts and community. What began as an informal gathering of like-minded pioneers quickly evolved into a structured network. Since then, TEH has held 2 TEH meetings each year in different TEH member centres, creating a long-standing tradition of peer learning, solidarity and collaboration. These gatherings have grown into dynamic events that bring together hundreds of cultural changemakers from across Europe and beyond to share knowledge, co-create projects and shape the future of the independent cultural sector. This year, we celebrate the 99th time TEH gathering - #TEH99 Conference at Toplocentrala in Sofia (Bulgaria), and the 100th time - #TEH100 Camp Meeting at Kanepes in Riga (Latvia). For 2026, the hosts have been selected and confirmed - stay tuned.
Now we are calling for cultural centres, full TEH members, who will host a TEH Meeting in 2027. This call is open for both hosts:
- TEH #103 Conference (spring-early summer 2027) and
- TEH #104 Camp Meeting (autumn 2027).
Difference between a TEH Conference and a Camp Meeting
Both TEH Spring Conference and TEH Autumn Camp Meeting are a collaboration and co-creation between TEH Coordination Office & the local team and community of an active and trustworthy full member of the TEH network. The concept and the programme of those events reflect both local-regional-international issues and TEH member challenges.
What makes a TEH Conference special?
The annual TEH Spring Conference has an outward looking format, allowing to share the work of the network with external stakeholders, and to invite external speakers, partners to interact and exchange with our members. In 2027, it will remain a public event open to all.
...and a TEH Autumn Camp Meeting?
We encourage the annual Fall Camp Meeting to place a stronger focus on TEH members with workshop-based activities, project-building sessions and TEH hub meetings.
Could your centre be the next host?
Do you want to host a TEH Conference or TEH Camp Meeting at your cultural centre? It is a great chance to invite friends and colleagues from all over Europe and beyond, and showcase your cultural centre to the network.
Now is the high time to apply!
The TEH Meeting hosts will be voted on in Sofia, at #TEH99 Conference, in June 2025.
Deadline to apply for 2027 TEH Meeting host is 21 April 2025.
How do you know if your centre is the right fit?
You have to be ready to welcome your friends from across Europe and beyond.
To host a TEH meeting, your centre needs to be an active part of the network. That means being a FULL member of Trans Europe Halles and actively engaging in meetings and conferences. You should have:
- At least three years of membership in TEH to host the Spring Conference
- At least two years of membership to host the Camp Meeting
And of course, you need the capacity and resources to organise an international professional gathering.
For the Spring Conference, this means hosting 300 to 400 participants over four days.
For the Autumn Camp Meeting, expect 100 to 200 participants over three days, with a special focus on TEH members.
You’ll also need:
- An accessible venue and premises
- A solid team of staff and volunteers
- Financing and funding opportunities
- Strong local, regional and national connections
