Co-PED: a new initiative where community culture meets climate innovation
We are happy to announce the launch of Co-PED, the "Community-based Cultural and Social Centres as Incubators for Positive Energy Districts (PEDs)", initiative: a project set to run from 2025 to 2027.
Supported by the Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) Partnership, Co-PED is reimagining how communities manage energy and energy finances together, by empowering cultural and social centers as living labs in the energy transition.
This exciting journey is part of a much larger European movement. With 67 partners across 28 countries, the DUT Partnership is tackling today’s most urgent urban challenges – from sustainability to livability. Its 2023 open call drew over 1,600 ideas, with 183 proposals competing for EUR 200 million in funding.
We’re proud to share that Co-PED is among the 42 pioneering projects selected for funding under the Positive Energy Districts track – one of three focus areas, alongside the 15-minute City and Circular Urban Economies.
And, 2025 marks the beginning of Co-PED where communities lead the charge toward sustainable energy futures. More information on the initiative is here.
Stay tuned for more!
