Menų spaustuvė (ARTS PRINTING HOUSE)

Arts Printing House (Menų spaustuvė in Lithuanian) is a unique creative phenomenon in Lithuania, a vibrant performing arts venue and a meeting place for artistic souls. Established in a former printing house dating back to 1585, it is an umbrella organisation for non-governmental arts organisations and is still the only production company and venue covering the contemporary performing arts field (dance, circus, theatre, etc.) in Vilnius.

Since 2006 Arts Printing House has been organising the international contemporary circus festival – NEW CIRCUS WEEKEND – together with the circus education programme. Every January an international festival for young audiences – KITOKS – brings unusual forms of performing arts to the venue.

Since 2010, Arts Printing House has been inviting international performing artists (dance, circus etc.) to participate in a residency programme, to collaborate with local performing artists, to connect with the community and present their work.

In 2018 an international street theatre festival SPOT took over Vilnius streets and parks in the middle of July. It aims to fill the summer days and nights with a unique art form that comes straight to the people and present talented creators from Lithuania and abroad.

What makes the organisation unique?

Arts Printing House is open to a variety of diverse art activities. Every corner of the building can be used for an artistic or educational project. It holds strong relationships with the performing arts sector and its artists locally as well as on an international scale. It creates a dialogue between the audience, the artists and the cultural worker and programmer – offering the opportunity of creating, learning and initiating an exchange.
